David Cates – How to Get Your Psyche Right To Achieve a Goal
Achieving a goal, no matter what it is, requires you to have the right mindset above all else. Leading psychologists such as David Cates actually discuss this a great deal, and the key is to get your mind right before you set out on your path to achieve the goal. Today then we are going to take a look into exactly what this looks like and how you should position your mind before you set out on your path to achieve this goal. Start here and you will have a far greater chance of achieving that dream, regardless of what it is.
Consider What it Means
Many of us set goals simply because we think it is what we should do, for example some think about making money or getting a new job, but few actually want that goal. This is why the first step is to consider what it means for you to achieve the goal, asking yourself why you wish to achieve it and then thinking about what it would mean to you. Arbitrary goals are highly unlikely to be achieved by you.
Getting Into Specifics
It is always important to try and make the goal as specific as possible, what is it exactly that you are trying to achieve? For example some may say they want to make more money, this is a good goal for many people. What you have to think about though is what that looks like, how much money? How frequently? And what do you consider to be the finish line of this particular goal?
Imagine The Feeling of Achievement
Now you need to start thinking about what it would feel like to achieve your goal, how would it change you personally. This is not to say that there will be no future goals of course, there should always be future goals, but you have to consider what your actual feelings will be. Once you are able to envisage how you will feel it will be far easier to chase the dream, because now you are chasing an actual feeling.
Visualize The Path
The reason why many struggle to reach their goals is that they are unable to actually visualize the path to their success. This is the hardest thing to do but if you are able to do this in the beginning then you can really arm yourself for the journey. If you need to you can use visual aids to help you with this. Consider what potential obstacles lie in your path, and how you plan to get passed them. Also consider how long this will take you, and what the right steps are to take in order to get to where you need to be. The better that you can visualize your plan, the better than you will be able to prepare for what is to come.
If you can get your psyche right first, the rest will be far easier.
