AMFund – Simple Was in which You Can Help Those in Need
If most of us are being honest we would say that there is much more which we could all be doing for charities and for those in need. I spent many years knowing that I should have been doing more to help out but I never did, for whatever reason. A friend of mine started working for the charity AMFund and I was really inspired by what she was doing, so much so that I started to do more for charity and more to help those who were in need. If you would like to do more, either in your community or the wider world, here are some ways in which you can get started.
Donations
If you don’t have the time or you don’t want to commit yourself to helping out then a very easy way to get started is through donating money. Charities and community organizations rely purely on the money which they are able to fundraise and the money which they receive through donations. Without this money these charities and groups would not be able to provide the help which they can. If you are able to, a small donation each month can really make a big difference.
Volunteering
Volunteering your time is a great way of helping out, especially when it comes to community projects. You don’t have to dedicate all of your time to these either, a couple of spare hours per week can go a long way in helping others. You could volunteer in a local hospital, you could help out in a charity store, you could even lend a pair of helping hands to a local project which is going on. My friend helps out in a boxing gym twice a week which helps to get kids off the streets, she knows nothing about boxing but she goes along, carries stuff, chats with the kids and does her bit. You don’t need to make a grand gesture, remember that anything can help.
Local Support
There are other ways in which you can help which don’t necessarily involve volunteering. You could get some shopping for an old person in your neighborhood, you could offer to look after a single mum’s kids, you could help to clean up the streets, painting over graffiti or doing a litter pick. Helping out doesn’t mean something official, it is about being aware of those in need and doing whatever you can to support them, with no gain to yourself.
Being a Voice
This article here is me doing my part in encouraging others to do more, I also volunteer of course but being a voice about this can also be helpful. Encouraging others to be better is a great thing and even if it just means opening a dialogue with family and friends about helping out, this too can be a good thing which you are doing. There is always something that you can do, make the time and be nice, it’s that simple.
