"The Matador" might be the best film of 2005 that you've never heard about. Well, it's not the best film of 2005, but it is sure a winner that more and more people will now have a chance to see. Former Bond Pierce Brosnon plays professional hitman Julian Noble in the film written and directed by Richard Shepard. The talented "Matador" cast also includes Greg Kinnear and Hope Davis as a married couple who are unwontedly haunted and then smitten with Brosnon's mentally damaged Noble, the killer whose lost his nerve.
Shepard joined us in Atlanta to discuss his career arc, spanning now more than 15 years even though he's still a pretty young guy. And he told us about how "The Matador" got made by chance and the support of Pierce Brosnon who was more than happy to take on a role that will likely charm Bond fans and usher in a new chapter in his acting career. As Noble, Brosnon shucks off the super spy persona with style and zest.
In our streaming interview, Shepard talks about his new project, "Spring Break in Bosnia," and how the theatrical release of "The Matador" is the same cut that pleased folks at festivals.
