"Les Choristes" or "The Chorus" as it is known here in the States is a terrific film. Director Christophe Barratier gave me a few minutes of his time at the Toronto International Film Festival last year. "Les Choristes" created a sensation in France for the music, sang by the young boys in the film. But the story is moving and well-paced along the lines of "Dead Poets Society."

Now "Les Choristes" has been nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film of 2004, and Barratier netted a nomination for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song. That's not bad for a director's first feature.
