American Red Cross volunteers have been deployed to the hardest hit areas of Katrina’s destruction, supplying hundreds of thousands victims left homeless with critical necessities. By making a financial gift to Hurricane 2005 Relief, the Red Cross can provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to those in need.

Dragoncon 2003: An Introduction To FREAK!
by Rusty White

DragonCon 2003 starts Friday. This year Einsiders will be doubling their coverage of the outrageous fan convention. In addition to the 313 confirmed guests, DragonCon will be host to thousands of fans from all over the world. If you want to see the unusual, the bizarre, the beautiful and curvaceous, then by all means make your way to Atlanta from August 29th through September 1st. Jonathan Hickman and I had a wild time last year. One thing we discovered is that there is too much happening for two people to cover. This year we're taking along some extra help. What events do the great folks at DragonCon have coming your way? Read on my brothers.

Two legends of science fiction and horror will be among the many guests this year. Award winning science fiction writer Ray Bradbury will participate via teleconference. However, Bradbury's boyhood friend, horror publisher and everyone's favorite uncle, Forry Ackerman, will be speaking and greeting his fans in person. While we're on the subject of horror movies, Leatherface himself, Gunnar Hanson, is scheduled to appear. I'm personally excited about the presence of David Carradine at this year's conference. Let's not forget the amazing Karen Black! Also on hand will be Brad Dourif (Alien Resurrection, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers), Angela Cartwright (Lost in Space, The Sound of Music), Lloyd "Mr. Troma" Kaufman, Lou Ferrigno, Richard Hatch, Richard Kiel, Walter Koenig, George Lazenby, Billy Mumy, Juliet Mills, Luke Perry, Jon Rhys-Davies, Tanya Roberts, Marc Singer and many others.

In addition to people involved in the movie industry, you will have the opportunity to meet and talk with a multitude of writers, artists and musicians. The band "Godhead" is just one of the musical guests scheduled. David Carradine's band as well as "Buffy" star James Marsters' band will also rock DragonCon2003.

If its babe watching you want then this will be the hottest place in America on Labor Day weekend. In addition to the several Playboy playmates and web-cam girls scheduled to appear, you will find hundreds of uninhibited fans walking around in very little. Last year Kenny Baker (R2D2) told me that there were certain advantages to being a man of his height when he got caught on an escalator behind a woman wearing only a thong! DragonCon is a costume convention. You will see every imaginable super hero and heroine, battalions of storm troopers. Did I mention the babes! I'm taking my teenage son this year. The wife says I need to tell him about the birds and the bees. He should get an anatomy lesson in Atlanta this year.
