Changing the Way We Look at Credit Card Loyalty Programs

In June 2018, Brim Financial Inc. launched its first line of credit cards, completely redefining the payment experience for consumers and partner experience for merchants. With endless rewards, loyalty benefits and unique perks, it is quickly becoming one of the most enticing credit card options.

Founder and chief executive officer of Brim Financial Rasha Katabi is no novice when it comes to banking. She boasts more than 18 years in consumer finance and banking, and worked for some of Canada’s biggest banks and financial institutions, including Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Pulling from her extensive experience, Katabi assembled a dream team of more than 100 employees to build Brim’s completely bespoke infrastructure. “We built our platform entirely from the ground up and completely independent of legacy banking systems,” Katabi said.

The company describes its backers as “squarely Canadian,” with decades of experience in consumer financial services. Brim’s board is full of successful entrepreneurs including Christian Lassonde, investor at Wealthsimple and John Reucassel, former analyst at BMO Nesbitt Burns, Inc.

The mission of Brim Financial is to break down the norms that have limited both cardholders and merchants when it comes to purchasing payments and redeeming points. Customers can redeem loyalty rewards anywhere MasterCard is accepted, which is more attractive than credit cards that restrict how and when you can redeem your points.

Brim’s tech-savvy approach better caters to the growing number of millennial credit card users than its competitors – with mobile wallet integration, instant security features and full point transparency through the Brim app.

Thanks to the unparalleled benefits of the Brim card, the company has not only rapidly built a strong user base but gained attention from global merchant partners as well. Household names like Amazon, Uber Eats and Hello Fresh have partnered with Brim to offer users special offers and point deals. Brim anticipates to continue to add big names into their marketplace, offering even more opportunities for their chardholders in the future.
